I am a female of a certain age at which it is required to know what direction my life should follow. Meaning, it's been some years after college, entrenched in "making ends meet", and now is the time to decide: career path or creative freedom. Work, long, rewarding in terms of money, hours and save to buy that house, car, etc. Or, spend hours making art, making food, writing, reading, and then go behind the bar and get people drunk in exchange for dollars to pay the rent and buy the needles and thread and cover the submission's costs of proposals. I lose myself in embroidery and reading, fantasize about welding and the smell of hot metal, and end up getting it all out on paper in the form of short stories with controversial endings.
