AmbushArts.com is a quarterly online magazine of poetry, short stories, essays, photography, short film, visual art, and music. We are committed to promoting art that is informed by craft as well as experience and ask that you send only fully realized work. Please be honest with yourself before submitting; you may be able to save everyone valuable time.
We here at AmbushArts.com are not interested in becoming a quarterly cross-section of whatever finds its way into our e-mail. When we discover an artist whose work we admire, we’re interested in developing a relationship. We hope that many of the artists who appear in our issues will become regular contributors. In the interest of promoting careers over individual works of art, we solicit a considerable amount of our content. However, a percentage of each issue will be reserved for unsolicited work. It is also important to us that work is judged solely on merit. Therefore, all unsolicited works will be considered blindly. Artists’ names or any other identifying information may not appear anywhere on the work. Feel free to tell us all about who you are and where your work has appeared in the comments area of our online submission system, but the attached file must be entirely “clean.”
AmbushArts.com only accepts electronic submissions sent via our online submissions system. Any unsolicited work we receive at our personal or business e-mail addresses or in the mail will be discarded. We will not consider work that has already appeared in another publication, which includes both print and online journals, magazines, newspapers, and blogs. However, work that has appeared on a personal website, MySpace page, or online workshop/forum is OK. Musicians, we're willing to be a bit more lenient when it comes to music submissions. We only ask that the work be recorded or released within the last year; it doesn't matter where else on the web people can find it. Because we are artists ourselves, we gladly accept simultaneous submissions so long as you notify us immediately if any work we are considering is accepted by another publication. Multiple submissions, however, are not allowed. Please submit in only one medium at a time and wait until you receive a response before submitting other material.
We make every effort to respond to submissions as quickly as possible, but if you still haven’t heard back from us after six months, feel free to inquire about the status of your submission. Usually, the longer we hold onto a work, the more smitten we are with it. Because computers are not entirely trustworthy, we cannot accept responsibility for lost or damaged submissions. AmbushArts.com acquires one-time Internet rights for all works we publish. Works are also archived online. All other rights revert to the artist. At this time, AmbushArts.com is not able to offer financial compensation for work published in the magazine.
