About me:
I'm a dancer living in Chicago, originally moving here after signing a contract with a small ballet company. After 3 years with the company and 2 years of teaching, I decided to keep the teaching and search for new performance opportunities. Most recently I landed a job for 11 weeks of guesting works with the Madison Ballet.

High school:
Trinity Preparatory School - Orlando, FL - Class of 2001 College:
Indiana University - Bloomington, IN Years attended: 2001 - 2005 Course of study: Ballet Performance Degree earned: Other Comments: I received a BSOF from IU...Bachelor of Science in Ballet Performance with an Outside Field in Applied Health Science. A perfect school for the dancer who craves high level ballet training (with the likes of Balanchine ballerina Violette Verdy) combined with the normalcy of a university experience. In a typical year, the ballet majors perform an original classical or contemporary work created by a guest or faculty artist, a Balanchine ballet (which yes, means bringing in a member of the Balanchine Trust), the Nutcracker, and acts of a full length classical ballet. Every performance includes live music, usually led by a guest conductor, and occasionally an original score is composed to accompany new choreography. Majors are required to choreograph one piece and to teach two semesters of elective ballet before graduation. Chances to perform dancing roles in operas and musicals, under the direction of guest conductors, directors, and choreographers, are also abundant. The Jacobs School of Music is extremely well funded, which is why all these opportunities exist, but I never felt the ballet department recieved enough money for scholarships. The ballet department is performance based, so there was not much in the way of dance history or injury prevention when I was there. This may have changed. The demands of this program are great, but well worth it. Feel free to send me questions! Workshop experience:
The summer after my sophomore year of college (2003), I attended the Joffrey Ballet summer program in New York City. The Joffrey Ballet company is in Chicago and the Joffrey Ballet school is in NY. Two summer programs are available, one out of NYC and one in San Antonio, Texas. During my 4 weeks in the program my technique certainly improved, but mostly I began to appreciate exploring musicality in my dancing. Every ballet/pointe/partnering class was accompanied by talented pianists, which makes taking class much more fulfilling. The intensive is a Monday through Friday 9 to 5 gig and you must be or learn to be self-motivated to make it to all the classes. The classes were pretty large, which allow for an easy time making friends and a more difficult time being noticed. The two teachers from the program that stand out in my mind are Francesca Corkle, a longtime principal dancer of Joffrey, and Eleanor D'Antuano, who began her career at 14 in the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. Jazz, modern, and pilates classes were also offered. There were many housing options and I chose an NYU dorm with nondancers, which was maybe too much fun. Influences:
Teachers: Russell and Phyllis Sultzbach, Guoping Wang, Violette Verdy, Leslie Peck, Glenda Lucena, Greg Begley, Julie Nakagawa.
Dancers: Julie Kent, Sylvie Guillem
Works: James Kudelka's "Cruel World" Pas de Deux with Julie Kent and Robert Hill, William Forsythe's "In the Middle Somewhat Elevated"
